Thomas Rhett and Nick Jonas Prove They Have Chemistry Taping "CMT Crossroads"

ABC/Randy HolmesThere were no seats required for Thomas Rhett’s recent CMT Crossroads taping with Nick Jonas. The crowd was on its feet the entire time as the second-generation country star and the former Jonas Brother traded lines on each other’s tunes Friday night in Nashville. Thomas Rhett got the party started with his hit, “Make Me Wanna,” with female screams nearly drowning out Jonas’s vocal the first time he hit a falsetto note.

“The more you sing your faces off, the more we don’t have to sing!” Thomas goaded the crowd, as Nick launched into the first lines of TR’s smash, “Die a Happy Man.”

“I think you will!” Nick yelled, as TR sang the lyric, “If I never get to build my mansion in Georgia,” during the song he wrote about his wife Lauren.

The camaraderie between the two was evident, as they blazed through current single “T-Shirt” and “Crash and Burn.” The pair welcomed rock legend John Oates to the stage for the only song that’s not part of their individual repertoires, Hall & Oates’ #1 from 1977, “Rich Girl.”

Next, it was Jonas’s turn, as a piano was brought to the stage so he could play “Chainsaw.” “Is that not the most killer song?” Thomas asked the crowd, before jumping into a duet on “Chains.” Danielle Bradbury subbed for Swedish singer Tove Lo on the lead single from Nick’s forthcoming third solo album, “Close.”

The night wrapped as Thomas Rhett kicked off Jonas’s “Jealous.”

Nick summed up the evening with a huge compliment for his country counterpart. “Not only are you a great guy, but you’re a fantastic performer!”

The latest episode of CMT Crossroads is set to air sometime this summer.
