Clare Bowen & Chris Carmack from ABC's "Nashville" Play Benefit for Emmylou Harris's Bonaparte's Retreat This Weekend

ABCCountry Music Hall of Famer Emmylou Harris hits the stage with the stars of ABC’s Nashville this weekend in Music City. Clare BowenChris Carmack and more will play a benefit Saturday night at Nashville’s 3rd & Lindsley, as part of the annual Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival.

Money raised goes to Bonaparte’s Retreat, a nonprofit Emmylou founded in 2004 after the death of her beloved pup Bonaparte. Its mission is to rescue shelter dogs and adopt them into forever homes.

“Bonaparte had this really friendly demeanor, loved people, [was] very sociable, loved other animals. Once you have the experience of having a dog on the road with you, you don’t realize how lonely you’ve been without one. So he went everywhere with me. He was my constant companion for 10 years,” she reminisces.

The name “Bonaparte’s Retreat” is also a tip of the hat to the song that was a huge hit for Pee Wee KingKay Starr and Glen Campbell. The show starts at 6:30 p.m. CT on Saturday. You can find out more about Emmylou’s cause online at BonapartesRetreat.org.
