Michael Becker/FoxIt’s been exactly a month since Trisha Yearwood sang “Broken” live from New Orleans during Fox’s Palm Sunday broadcast of The Passion, and since then, the song has taken on a life of its own.
Even though she has nearly 25 years of country hits to her credit, it quickly became her first single to make Billboard’s Christian chart. Most recently, “Broken” officially took the title as the biggest Adult Contemporary hit of Trisha’s career, currently occupying the #20 spot on the magazine’s tally, alongside artists like Adele and Kelly Clarkson. Now, country fans are demanding to hear it on the Garth Brooks World Tour.
“I love to look out from the stage and see fans with their signs, requesting ‘Broken,’” Trisha says. “It’s proof to me how powerful the song is. I felt it myself when I first heard the original version, sung by Lifehouse, and it’s confirmed each night on the road.”
You can check out Trisha’s performance of “Broken” during her recent Ohio tour stop on her Facebook page now. Garth and Trisha kick off their second weekend at Columbus’s Schottenstein Center on Friday.
