ABC/Image Group LABrett Eldredge gave fifty music teachers from Music City a night they won’t soon forget this week at Nashville’s City Winery, passing out $100,000 worth of grants on behalf of the Country Music Association.
It’s a cause close to the “Drunk on Your Love” hitmaker’s heart, a fact that was illustrated by the presence of his own musical mentor, a veteran 27-year teacher from his hometown of Paris, Illinois.
“Everyone needs somebody to guide you along,” Brett asserts. “Someone that sees the talent in you, that believes. There are so many schools that don’t have this, because some kids may not have their Judy Carroll, or their mentor, or the person that helps them along. Kids should never be without the option to have music in their lives.”
Each teacher received a $2,000 grant as part of the first-ever CMA Music Teacher of Excellence honors. This is one of many projects funded by the proceeds from CMA Music Festival, which comes up June 9-12 this year in Nashville.
