As a hardcore audiophile himself, the “It All Started with a Beer” hitmaker admits he took it especially seriously when he traveled to the Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas, to create his latest offering.
“I’ve always been a guy who counts on music. I rely on it. And I’ve noticed there are a lot of other people that are like that,” he says. “Now that I have the opportunity to make this album and say something, I know I have a responsibility to those people who are counting on a good album to listen and to live their lives by. And I wanted to dig in as hard as I could and take every bit of knowledge and influence and everything else I’ve put into my music and try to put it all into this album.”
The Michigander stops by the Today show Tuesday, June 14 to promote El Rio. You can catch his performance sometime after 7 a.m. that day on NBC.
