"Cryin'" Time: Martina McBride Duets with Steven Tyler

ABC RadioMartina McBride may be a four-time CMA Female Vocalist of the Year, but she’s also a die-hard Aerosmith fan. At Saturday night’s CMA Music Festival, she got the once-in-a-lifetime chance to sing the band’s 1993 hit, “Cryin’,” with the man who made it famous.

“I got a phone call… ‘Hey Martina, this is Steven Tyler!’” she says, recalling how the collaboration came together. “I immediately put it on speakerphone and called my daughter, and we just kind of sat there and listened…He’s incredibly engaging and… has this passion for life that’s contagious… He loves Nashville and…he’s so excited and grateful and amazed that he’s here and a part of this, and that was really sweet. Then we talked about doing the song together, and I was like, ‘Yeah! Don’t even need to think about that!’”

Clad in black sequined short shorts, camisole and full-length sheer robe, Martina confessed Tyler’s perpetual rock icon attitude also influenced her edgy fashion choices. His debut solo album, We’re All Somebody from Somewhere, comes out July 15, with the title track also set to be released to country radio as a single.
