Frederick Breedon IV/WireImageKeith Urban reached into the U2 songbook last weekend to pay tribute to the victims of the June 12 Orlando, Florida nightclub shootings.
Near the end of his concert last Friday in Tampa, Urban told the crowd, “Before we go I want to say one thing that’s really been on my heart for the last week. I know we’ve got a lot of folks here tonight from Orlando, and although I didn’t know anybody in that horrific incident, I did, because they’re just guys and girls, brothers and sisters. They had dreams, and hopes, plans, just like every one of us.”
He then launched into a poignant rendition of U2’s “One,” from the Irish band’s 1991 album Achtung Baby, ending the performance by saying “God bless you Orlando. Orlando Strong.”
Urban’s Ripcord World Tour continues June 23 in Clarkston, MI, with openers Brett Eldredge and Maren Morris.
