Photo by Rick Kern/WireImageAlison Krauss almost has a stalker– and her name is Adele. The British pop sensation confessed her love for the 1995 CMA Female Vocalist of the Year Tuesday night in St. Paul, Minnesota, as she kicked off the much-anticipated North American leg of her tour.
“Do you know the singer called Alison Krauss?” Adele asked the crowd, according to Entertainment Weekly, before kicking off a performance of her song “Don’t You Remember” that seemed inspired by Krauss’s band Union Station.
“Country and bluegrass aren’t that big in England, so usually I say that and get like five yells,” Adele went on to say, having just wrapped the European dates on her tour, “but I’m obsessed with her. Not like stalker vibes — but almost.”
Though she’s sold millions of albums and is one of the top Grammy-winners of all time, Alison found her most significant success on country radio with her 1995 cover of Keith Whitley’s “When You Say Nothing at All.”
Adele’s love for Alison isn’t her first flirtation with country music. In 2011, she covered Chris Stapleton’s track “If It Hadn’t Been for Love” on her 21 album.
