ABC/Image Group LAIt’s been a big week of changes for Kenny Chesney. First, he announced his next album wouldn’t come out as planned July 8, but would be pushed back to October 28. Friday morning on Good Morning America, he delivered another left turn — one that was a surprise even to his team: He’s changing the name of the record.
“In the end, these album titles are around for a very long time,” Kenny explains. “I really try to have titles that give people a sense of what the music is, and what the album is all about. There sure is a lot of Some Town Somewhere for sure, but really when I pulled back and listened, these songs are all about taking The Big Revival to the next level. That level is Cosmic Hallelujah.”
Change has emerged as a major theme of Cosmic Hallelujah, at least behind the scenes. Kenny shelved the album’s original lead single in favor of “Noise,” which he wrote, recorded and released in just 11 days.
