Craig Morgan Cancels His July Dates, as New Details Emerge About the Death of His Son

Black River EntertainmentCraig Morgan has cancelled the remainder of his July concert dates, according to his website, as his family mourns the loss of his son, Jerry Greer. The 19-year-old disappeared Sunday afternoon after a tubing accident on Tennessee’s Kentucky Lake. His body was recovered more than 24 hours later, on Monday night.

State investigators say there’s some physical evidence to suggest the recent high school graduate may have collided with his friend, who was also involved in the boating accident, but was not seriously hurt. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency also believes the fact that Jerry was not wearing a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket may have contributed to his death. Agents say instead he was wearing a lighter, less bulky vest that wouldn’t have kept him afloat.

Friends and family will pay their respects Friday at a visitation at Walnut Street Church of Christ in Craig’s hometown of Dickson, Tennessee. Jerry’s services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Nashville. He’ll be laid to rest on the family farm in Dickson County.
