Mitchell Drug Arrests

On Wednesday August 10, 2016, Officers with Mitchell Police Division conducted a search of a residence located at 212 W. Elm Avenue in Mitchell.  As a result of the search, approx. 1.76 ounces of a substance believed to be methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (M.D.M.A, also known as Ecstasy or Molly), approx. 5 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine, approx. ¼ pound of marijuana, numerous empty pill containers that did not appear to contain drug residue, 2 digital scales, a vacuum bag sealer, several plastic baggies, other drug paraphernalia and $33,212 in cash were found inside the residence.   $31,000 of the cash was found in a hidden safe that was mounted in a wall and was disguised as a furnace vent. 

 

As a result of this investigation, the residents of 212 W. Elm Ave., 23-year-old Kaitlin Elizabeth Minder, date of birth 03-15-1993 and 26-year-old Jordan Lee Muntefering, date of birth 09-15-1989, were arrested for the following offenses:

Possession more than 2 ounces of marijuana in violation of S.D.C.L. 22-42-6,  2 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance in violation of S.D.C.L. 22-42-5 ,  Possession of  more than than 1 oz. of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute in violation of S.D.C.L. 22-42-7 , 2 counts of  Possession of  a Controlled Substance  With Intent to Distribute in violation of S.D.C.L. 22-42-2, Possession with intent to Distribute in a Drug Free Zone in violation of S.D.C.L.  22-42-19 and  Possession of Drug Paraphernalia in violation of S.D.C.L. 22-42A-3.

Possession of more than 2 ounces of marijuana is a Class 6 Felony punishable by two years imprisonment in the state penitentiary and or a fine of $4,000.  Possession of a Controlled Substance and  Possession of  more than than 1 oz. of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute are both Class  5   Felonies punishable by 5  years imprisonment in the state penitentiary and or a fine of $10,000  on each count.     Possession of  a Controlled Substance  With Intent to Distribute and Possession with Intent to Distribute in a Drug Free Zone are both Class 4  Felonies punishable by  10  years imprisonment in the state penitentiary and or a fine of $ 20,000 on each count.    Possession of Drug Paraphernalia is a Class 2 misdemeanor  punishable by 30 days imprisonment in a courty jail and/or a $500 fine.
