No Comment from Blake Shelton, as the Internet Flashes Back to Some of His Most Controversial Tweets

Warner Music NashvilleSo far, there’s no comment from Blake Shelton’s camp after new attention to a series of now-deleted tweets that seem to have originated from Blake’s Twitter account. This weekend, @MusicFactsTea shared a series of screengrabs dating back as far as 2009, that some have reacted to as racist, homophobic or sexist.

Longtime fans of the “She’s Got a Way with Words” singer are familiar with Blake’s somewhat notorious history on Twitter, one that’s often found him authoring outrageous or obnoxious posts — complicated by the fact that’s it often difficult to tell whether or not the perpetual comic is serious.

He addressed his candor on social media in an interview with the Los Angeles Times back in 2011, saying “In country music, I think one of the ways we may have gone wrong in the past is trying to be politically correct all the time. I think the worst thing you can do is blend in. Why would you ever want to blend in?”
