Warner NashvilleBlake Shelton is weighing in with the final word on a series of tweets that some have called racist, homophobic and sexist.
“Everyone knows comedy has been a major part of my career and it’s always been out there for anyone to see,” Blake said Wednesday on Twitter. “That said anyone that knows me also knows I have no tolerance for hate of any kind or form. Can my humor at times be inappropriate? Yes. Hateful? Never. That said I deeply apologize to anyone who may have been offended.”
Last weekend, @MusicFactsTea shared a seemingly controversial series of screengrabs of now-deleted tweets, some dating as far back as 2009, that appeared to have originated from Blake’s account.
Longtime fans of the “She’s Got a Way with Words” singer are familiar with Blake’s somewhat notorious history on Twitter, one that’s often found him authoring outrageous or obnoxious posts — complicated by the fact that’s it often difficult to tell whether the perpetual comic is serious or not.
