Country Music AssociationMoments after announcing the nods for the 50th Annual CMA Awards live Wednesday on Good Morning America, both Dierks Bentley and Cam were still clutching the cards that revealed they’re up for the Country Music Association’s yearly honors.
“I’m keeping these at the house, no matter what,” Dierks told ABC Radio after learning of his four nominations. “I’m on cloud nine. It’s unreal.”
Newcomer Cam was equally overwhelmed after learning her breakthrough hit, “Burning House,” could take home trophies for both Song and Music Video of the Year.
“I’m like mind-blown! It’s like crazy to be in the circle already,” she said, referring to the iconic piece of wood from the historic Ryman Auditorium that rests on the Grand Ole Opry stage, “and then to have Keith Urban and Dierks Bentley next to you is kind of otherworldly and then you’re announcing the nominations and then, I’ve never been nominated for a CMA Award and I’m nominated for two! Like get outta here! So I’m keeping these and taking ‘em home,” she said of the prized mementos.
“It’s a bit surreal,” Keith Urban reflected, “because, I mean we’re finding out at the same time everybody else is, and your name’s being read just inches away from you… I was glad the three of us got to do it. I was extremely happy for Cam and Dierks to be nominated as well.”
In all, Keith has a shot at four CMAs, including the big one.
“Keith being nominated for Entertainer of the Year, that’s like a career goal!” Cam said, putting it in perspective. “I’m like, ‘Oh my god I just got nominated!’… That’s all I needed!”
We’ll find out who wins Wednesday, November 2, when the awards air live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on ABC.
