ABC RadioMartina McBride honors Linda Ronstadt with a performance of “Blue Bayou” next month, when the Grammy Salute to Music Legends airs as part of Great Performances on PBS. Legendary songwriter J.D. Souther also delivers “Faithless Love,” a Ronstadt classic he penned, on the show.
The special recognizes this year’s Grammy’s Lifetime Achievement Honorees, including Fred Foster, who was instrumental in the careers of Dolly Parton, Roy Orbison and Kris Kristofferson. During the show, Kristofferson himself sings his song “Me and Bobby McGee,” with a little help from Shelby Lynne, who also contributes her take on Orbison’s “Oh, Pretty Woman.” Foster will be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame at a ceremony in Nashville next month as well.
Earth, Wind & Fire, jazz icon Herbie Hancock, rock legends Jefferson Airplane, and pioneering rap group Run DMC are some of the other artists who’ll be honored during the concert at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre earlier this year. It premieres October 14 at 9 p.m. on PBS.
