Warner Music NashvilleWhen Blake Shelton takes his place in his spinning red chair Monday for the season 11 premiere of The Voice, there will be plenty of changes — at the top of the list, the addition of Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys as his competitors. But there’s one new element that has the “She’s Got a Way with Words” singer particularly excited — the addition of Bette Midler as this cycle’s special mentor.
“Bette is such an icon and she’s done everything in the entertainment business there is to do and done it at a top level,” Blake gushes. “We were all in awe being around her for the taping and it’s such a great experience for my team to have had her as a mentor,” he adds.
This weekend, Blake clocks two dates on his fall tour in St. Paul, Minnesota, before The Voice kicks off its new season Monday at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
