Image Credit: Becky FlukeWhile Miranda Lambert hasn’t explicitly discussed whether her new album addresses her divorce from Blake Shelton last year, the reigning CMA and ACM Female Vocalist of the Year does open up a bit in the latest edition of Nashville LGBT publication Unite.
As for the inspiration for her current top-15 hit “Vice,” Miranda gets straight to the point. “The inspiration is just, the truth,” she tells the magazine. “Being honest and owning your s***.”
She hints there’s more where that came from on The Weight of These Wings. “It definitely sets up the direction with this record…,” she says of the lead single. “I’ve been working on it for a year. I’m nervous, but excited!”
When Miranda considers the songwriting she’s done for the new album, it gives the impression she only plans to go deeper on her sixth studio effort.
“I just happened to be going through some hard things in my life so all of that combined let me really grow as a songwriter. I’ve always written songs and recorded songs about where I am in life. There’s no difference in this record,” she promises.
The Weight of These Wings comes out November 18.
