For the final single from The First Time, she’s circling back to a theme that’s similar to the one in her hits “Love Me Like You Mean It” and “Dibs.”
“We’re gonna end up with ‘Yeah Boy,’” she tells ABC Radio. “It’s just one of those fun, flirty summertime songs that hopefully people just find at ease on the radio.”
While Kelsea hints that she’s digging a little deeper on her sophomore effort, she picked “Yeah Boy” because it revisits the upbeat spirit of much of her material written during her teen years.
“You know the album that I made…I wanted it to have like a fun vibe…and then I got to get more serious with ‘Peter Pan,’ but I think to really full circle the record, I wanted to kind of bring it back to that light [mood], especially with the contrast of the new stuff that I’m writing.”
The Knoxville, Tennessee native tells ABC Radio she’s entertaining the possibility of a long list of collaborators on the new project, but at least so far, Taylor Swift isn’t officially one of them. Kelsea recently took to social media to squash the rumor that a snippet of a new song she previewed was actually a cameo by her 1989-born friend.
