ABC/Image Group LAMiranda Lambert revealed the major impact Holly Dunn had on her as a child, remembering her fellow Texas native on Facebook Wednesday morning, a day after she died at the age of 59, following a battle with ovarian cancer.
“So sad to hear about Holly Dunn passing,” the reigning ACM Female Vocalist of the Year said. “She was a big inspiration to me. By singing along with her cassette tape I learned to sing. ‘Daddy’s Hands’ was the very first song I ever learned and sang in public. I was 9-years-old. [I was in] the third grade talent show and my dad played guitar for me. She will always have a special place in my heart. Rest in Peace, Holly,” she added.
The Weight of These Wings singer also posted the cover of Dunn’s breakthrough hit, which made it to number seven in 1986.
