ABC/Image Group LA Even though she was nominated for Favorite Female Country Artist at Sunday night’s American Music Awards, Cam admits she felt a tiny bit out of place on the red carpet, especially when she met the Broadway actress and singer who brought Frozen‘s Elsa to life.
“I do feel like starstruck! Like, I just met Idina Menzel and I, like, didn’t know what to say,” she laughs. “But it’s like really fun! I don’t have to perform today, so I get to just be like an audience member and get excited. That’s the best of both worlds, where you don’t have to be nervous about singing, but you’re nominated and get good seats!”
Even though Carrie Underwood ended up taking home the Female Vocalist trophy, Cam still has plenty to look forward to. She’s set to open for George Strait in Las Vegas next year, after she wraps up her Burning House Tour in early December.
