ABC/Image Group LAIt’s a big week for Garth Brooks, with both his holiday album with wife Trisha Yearwood and his ten-disc boxed set selling big numbers in their first week in stores.
Christmas Together moved more than 21,000 copies, enough to debut at number one on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart, while ranking at number eleven on the all-genre Top 200 chart.
As far as the Ultimate Collection goes, even though it’d set a record for the most pre-sales in Target’s history, it’s not eligible for inclusion on the Billboard tally. Why? Because it’s priced so low, at $29.99. But the CMA Entertainer of the Year says that’s just fine with him.
“Debuting at number one is always a thrill, and it’s really about making music and making that music affordable for people,” he says in a statement. “We are very proud of the Target boxed set and the response has been both flattering and humbling.”
Referring to Christmas Together, Garth says, “Ms. Yearwood and I have been threatening to make a duet record for years, and this Christmas album came together better than either one of us could have hoped.”
Look for Garth and Trisha bright and early on Thanksgiving morning, as they appear on ABC’s Good Morning America starting at 7 a.m. Then Thursday night, they perform on The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration at 8 p.m. ET, also on ABC.
On Friday, they’ll be Christmas-ing on Disney channel, as Disney Parks Presents: A Descendants Magical Holiday Celebration starts at 8 p.m. ET as well.
The single-disc edition of Garth’s new Gunslinger album will be available on Friday. Previously, you could only get it as part of the Target set.
