ABC/Heidi GutmanFor the seventh year in a row, Jennifer Nettles returns to host ABC’s annual CMA Country Christmas special, and from the very first moments of tonight’s show, she’s working hard to make sure it’s the most entertaining one ever.
“The opener this year is stellar! It’s super, super fun! I don’t know really if it’s the best idea for me to have started dancing when I was 40,” she jokes, “at least that’s how I feel the next day as I’m in my Epsom salt bath. But I do certainly enjoy it. I love everything that the choreographers and the producers put into the show, it is so much fun!”
Another reason Jennifer believes the 2016 edition is the best CMA Country Christmas ever is because so many artists, including Jennifer herself, have new holiday albums this year.
“Usually it depends on who has put a Christmas record out,” she says of the show’s lineup. “It’s people wanting to come and celebrate these albums that they’ve made. And so this year, we have a great crop of artists who have put out records this year, everybody from Kacey Musgraves to Brett Eldredge to Chris Young, you know. So it will be a very, I think, filled out show this year because of that.”
Rounding out this year’s all-star lineup are Kelsea Ballerini, Loretta Lynn, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Trisha Yearwood, Kelly Clarkson, Amy Grant, Andra Day, Sarah McLachlan and more.
Jennifer straps on her dancing shoes for the show open at 8 p.m. ET tonight on ABC.
