ABC/Image Group LA After raging East Tennessee wildfires threatened Dolly Parton’s Dollywood theme park overnight and forced many to evacuate the tourist meccas of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, the entertainment icon from nearby Sevierville is reacting to the devastation.
“I have been watching the terrible fires in the Great Smoky Mountains and I am heartbroken,” the Country Music Hall of Famer said in a statement. “I am praying for all the families affected by the fire and the firefighters who are working so hard to keep everyone safe. It is a blessing that my Dollywood theme park, the DreamMore Resort and so many businesses in Pigeon Forge have been spared.”
Dolly herself is in Los Angeles now, preparing for Tuesday’s live episode of The Voice on NBC. That appearance promotes the premiere of her Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love movie Wednesday night.
