ABC/Image Group LALate Monday night, fire crews worked to protect Dolly Parton’s East Tennessee theme park, as wildfires threatened the Dollywood property in Pigeon Forge.
Director of Media Pete Owens told ABC News flames were visible on a nearby ridge, as Dollywood’s team worked with firefighters to protect the structures on the park.
Earlier in the evening, the nearby tourist mecca of Gatlinburg, which is approximately eight miles away, was evacuated.
While Dolly held an East Tennessee premiere for her new movie, Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love, last week at Dollywood, the week after Thanksgiving isn’t typically a terribly busy time for the park. Dolly herself is in Hollywood, for Tuesday night’s taping of The Voice.
