ABC/Image Group LADolly Parton is busy planning a telethon to help raise money for victims of last week’s wildfires in East Tennessee. While we don’t know many details about the event yet, it’s set for next Tuesday, December 13 in Nashville.
Money raised will go to Dolly’s My People Fund, which she set up to give $1,000 a month to families who lost everything in the fires that raged through the tourist meccas of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, near where the entertainment icon grew up.
The Country Music Hall of Famer’s theme park, Dollywood, narrowly escaped the fire. Both the Dollywood Companies and the Dollywood Foundation chipped in the initial money to start the My People Fund.
