Starstruck EntertainmentKelly Clarkson revives her Miracle on Broadway benefit tonight to raise money for Nashville non-profits. Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood had both hoped to be on the bill this year, but couldn’t because of conflicts with their shows in Hawaii. Likewise, Kacey Musgraves had to pass because she has a concert of her own.
Reba, Hunter Hayes, Nashville’s Charles Esten, Steve Wariner and more will all join the season one American Idol winner at the Bridgestone Arena tonight, along with Kelsea Ballerini and RaeLynn, who both juggled their schedules so they could participate.
“All the artists are so awesome,” Kelly says. “They always want to participate, but you know, some are available, some aren’t… Kelsea and RaeLynn, I think they moved their schedules to be a part of it. Kelsea I know attended the 2014 one, you know as just a fan. She was like, ‘I attended it, and it was so awesome, so it’s cool that I’ll be able to be a part of it on stage this time.’”
Kelsea’s currently nominated for Best New Artist at this year’s Grammys, but Kelly can recall when the “Peter Pan” hitmaker was brand new.
“It was so funny,” Kelly remembers. “My bus was parked at an event in town and I was singing with Miranda Lambert and Reba. Kelsea showed up at my bus, and she was like ‘Hi! I seem real stalker-ish, but I’m a fan!’ She was so sweet and just so nice. She was like, ‘Yeah, I’m a new artist!’ She hadn’t come out yet, so it’s really cool how full circle that is, and we’re performing together.”
Kelly handpicked the four charities the concert will help: Abe’s Garden, the Nashville Public Library Fund, Second Harvest Food Bank and the W.O. Smith Music School.
