ABC/Ida Mae AstuteBrett Eldredge claims the sixth consecutive number-one of his career this week — as well as the final chart-topper of 2016 — with “Wanna Be That Song.” The Illinois native says the accomplishment is even more significant because the tune has always been a particular favorite of his.
“Getting to be ‘that song’ for my fans just makes this so much sweeter, better than than any number-one I’ve ever had,” Brett says in a statement. “This is the song I’ve wanted to release for a long time, so thank you to my team, my fans, country radio — and Merry Christmas!” he adds.
Brett continues to enjoy plenty of success in the yuletide arena as well, as his duet with pop star Meghan Trainor tallies its third week atop the holiday music chart.
He’ll continue to promote his big band album Glow Friday morning as he talks about his family traditions and shares his mother’s cookie recipe on the Today show. You can catch it on NBC starting at 7 a.m.
