ABC/Image Group LA It looks like Reba McEntire won’t be returning to ABC in the fall after all.
Reba partnered with Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry to develop an hour-long drama titled Red-Blooded. In the show, Reba plays a small-town, Southern sheriff who teams up with a Middle Eastern FBI agent after an unspeakable tragedy befalls her town.
Though Reba reported the network’s comments about the pilot were positive, the show failed to garner a spot on ABC’s fall schedule, according to Deadline. But it appears that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s dead.
ABC Studios, who helped produce the show, is said to be shopping it to cable outlets, much as they did with Cherry’s 2012 pilot for Devious Maids. It went on to run for four years on Lifetime.
Reba’s most recent foray into TV was on ABC, when Malibu Country aired for one season starting in 2012.
