Mitchell man arrested for stabbing

Mitchell Police have arrested a 24 year old man in connection with a stabbing outside a local business.

On 07-27-2017 at approx. 0232 hrs. The Mitchell Department of Public Safety Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting  that a male subject was on the ground and was bleeding outside of Thirsty’s Bar located at 1801 N. Main  Street in Mitchell.   Arriving Officers found an unresponsive adult male on the ground outside of Thirsty’s Bar.    Mitchell Fire Division Paramedics determined that the man had at least 2 stab wounds.   The man who was stabbed, received serious injuries from the assault and was transported to Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell.  

As a result of the investigation, 24 year old Trevor Brennon Belt, date of birth 10-21-1992 was arrested for the offense of Aggravated Assault.  It appears that Belt stabbed the man after Belt and the man had an argument earlier in the night.  This is an ongoing investigation.

Aggravated Assault is a Class 3 Felony, punishable by 15  years imprisonment in the state penitentiary and a $30,000 fine.
