No longer the piano man, Craig Campbell takes center stage on the Luke Bryan tour

BBR Music Group Craig Campbell’s scored big hits with songs like “Keep Them Kisses Comin’,” “Outta My Head,” and “Family Man.” But this week, he marks a major career milestone: he’s joining Luke Bryan’s Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day tour.

“When I got that call, I did about three back flips in a row,” Craig jokes. “I didn’t even know I could do back flips. We waited a long time to go out on a major tour like this. And never in my wildest dreams would I have thought my first big major tour would be with my buddy, Luke.”

Luke and Craig were both born and raised in the Peach State.

“We’ve been buddies for a long time, and we’re cut from the same cloth,” Craig tells ABC Radio. “You know, he grew up in South Georgia, I’m a South Georgia boy…There are a lot of things about what he does and what I do that are very similar.”

But this is far from the first time Craig’s been out on the road with Luke. Back before either singer had cracked the country chart, Craig played keyboards in Luke’s band.

“He was just before signing his record deal…” Craig recalls. “We would go down to South Georgia and play and they would be sold out. It was an amazing thing to see how he could go to South Georgia and sell these venues out and not even have any radio success. It was cool to be a part of that on the early side of it.”

Thursday and Friday night, Craig and Luke play Gilford, New Hampshire, before heading to Syracuse, New York on Saturday.

Look for a follow-up to Craig’s top-25 single, “Outskirts of  Heaven,” soon.
