ABC/Mark LevineJay DeMarcus has produced plenty of albums, including the latest ones by his band Rascal Flatts and Reba McEntire. But soon, he’ll be expanding his producing horizons, helming his first feature film.
All Shook Up is set to start shooting early next year. It’s based on the true story of an atomic bomb that was lost half a century ago off the coast of Savannah, Georgia, when an Air Force jet collided with a B-47 bomber.
The screenplay, which was written by musician Gregg Russell, focuses on two adolescent boys who set out to find the nuke. Jay discovered the project through his wife Allison, who’s a fan of Russell’s music.
“I read it and was just immediately taken in by it,” Jay tells Deadline.com. “It’s a great, wholesome family story.”
Jay is also set to produce the film’s score and soundtrack, which will feature country artists covering tunes from the fifties. He and Allison will also do cameos as the parents of one of the kids.
