No school, no problem: Chris Janson comes up with plan B as his daughter starts kindergarten

ABC/Image Group LA Sure, Chris Janson gets to do cool, rock-star things like play a two-night gig with Sam Hunt and Maren Morris at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheater.

But the father of four also goes through lots of the same things we all do, like sending his youngest daughter Georgia to kindergarten.

“It was first traumatizing to send them to preschool over the last couple years…” he confesses. “My wife and I, we flew home. You can’t miss those things. It’s very important. So actually the morning we put her in kindergarten was the morning of the first night of Red Rocks.”

“Emotionally, it kind of took a toll on me,” Chris admits. “I’m not gonna lie. I was choking back tears… And I would’ve been really upset if she had walked in and been like, ‘I don’t really dig this.’ And I would’ve said, ‘Okay, let’s go to Red Rocks!’ But she really liked it.”

In addition to having huge hits like “Buy Me a Boat” and “Fix a Drink,” it turns out Chris also has a pretty impressive academic record — and he’s ready to use it, if need be.

“If any of my kids… decide they don’t like school, that’s fine,” Chris says. “Because I made straight A’s and was almost tied for Valedictorian, and I’m pretty sure I could tutor. I’m cool with whatever happens. You’ve gotta raise your kids… I like raising ’em close to my vest, the world’s a scary place.”

In addition to Georgia, Chris and his wife Kelly have a younger son together named Jesse Bo, as well as Kelly’s two older children.

Look for Chris’s sophomore album, Everybody, when it’s released September 22.
