Courtesy of A Concert for Charlottesville and partnersChris Stapleton will represent country music at the all-star A Concert for Charlottesville later this month, as the Virginia community continues to come together after violent white nationalist rallies on August 11 and 12.
Charlottesville rockers Dave Matthews Band will headline the September 24 show at UVA Scott Stadium. Pop stars Ariana Grande and Pharrell Williams will also take the stage, along with rockers Cage the Elephant, the Tonight Show’s The Roots and Brittany Howard from the Alabama Shakes.
Justin Timberlake is also on the bill, giving the Traveller hitmaker the chance to recreate the moment from the 2015 CMA Awards that put him on the map, as the two sang a medley of “Tennessee Whiskey” and “Drink You Away.”
Free tickets will initially go to residents of the Charlottesville area at ConcertForCharlottesville.com, with a limited number being made available for pickup at the box office at John Paul Jones Arena on Friday, September 15 at 10 a.m. ET.
Concert-goers are being encouraged to make a donation to the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation online.
