BMLG/Carly PearceIt’s been a tough year for women on the country charts, but don’t blame Carly Pearce. Carly’s debut single, “Every Little Thing,” has entered the top 10 on Billboard‘s Country Airplay chart. The singer is the only solo female currently in the top 15 of the chart.
Carly is one of four women to make it into the top 10 at country radio this year. Billboard reports that only one solo female has topped the magazine’s Country Airplay chart in 2017 — Lauren Alaina with “Road Less Traveled. Meanwhile, Kelsea Ballerini‘s “Yeah Boy” peaked at number three in May, while Carrie Underwod‘s “Dirty Laundry” hit number two in January.
In 2016, the stats were slightly better with seven songs by solo women making it into the top 10 including Kelsea’s “Dibs” and “Peter Pan,” both of which reached number one, and Carrie’s two chart toppers with “Heartbeat” and “Church Bells.” The other songs that made it to the top 10 included Cam‘s “Burning House at number two, Jana Kramer‘s “I Got the Boy” at number six and Maren Morris‘ “My Church” at number nine.
