ABC/Paula LoboAs the aftermath of the Las Vegas shooting unfolded this week, Lady Antebellum has literally been a world away, on the European leg of their You Look Good Tour.
Before taking the stage Wednesday in Manchester, England, Hillary Scott and her band mates Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood — along with their spouses, children and road family — formed a prayer circle to remember the victims of the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
“We just wanted to take a second to just formally and just with unity acknowledge what happened a couple of days ago,” Hillary said, “and how I think all of us here are dealing with it. And we know people who are there, and everybody onstage, offstage in Vegas.”
The setting for Lady A’s prayer was particularly poignant: it took place in Manchester Arena, where in May, a suicide bomber took the lives of 22 innocent people who were leaving an Ariana Grande concert.
“Being so far away from home, we’re not gonna live in fear here,” Hillary vowed. “This is a safe space because we’re all here together, and because not only have I and our family and so many people here, so many people we don’t even know have prayed for us before we got here.
In all, 58 people lost their lives and close to 500 were injured in Sunday’s attack at the Route 91 Harvest Festival, at the hands of gunman Stephen Paddock.
