ABC/Image Group LA Michael Ray is reaching out to his fans and his hometown, after being arrested for DUI and possession of cannabis oil early Wednesday morning in Eustis, Florida.
“I want to apologize to my fans, family and my hometown community for placing myself in this situation,” the 29-year-old said in a statement. “I am so very sorry for the disappointment these events have caused everyone.”
“I know it will take time,” he continues, “however, I will do everything I can to rebuild your trust.”
The “Kiss You in the Morning” hitmaker was arrested after police answered a call at 3:34 a.m. after a minor accident in the drive-through of a local McDonald’s. Michael was arrested after police suspected him of DUI while investigating the incident. As they prepared to book him, they discovered a bottle cannabis oil in his pocket.
Michael hit #1 earlier this year with “Think a Little Less.” The lead single from his sophomore album, “Get to You,” is currently climbing the chart.
