ABC/Image Group LAThe holidays aren’t off to such a great start for Michael Ray, unfortunately. The 29-year-old was arrested early Wednesday morning in his hometown of Eustis, Florida, and charged with DUI and possession of cannabis oil.
According to Eustis Police, officers began to suspect Michael might be under the influence after they were called to investigate a minor crash in the drive-through of a local McDonald’s at 3:34 a.m. Michael told police his foot slipped off the pedal as he was driving his 2012 Jeep Wrangler, causing him to hit the car in front of him.
Ray — whose last name is actually Roach — had “blood-shot eyes, slurred speech… stumbled while walking and smelled of alcohol,” according to the police report obtained by ABC News Radio, and admitted he was coming from a bar. Officers started the booking procedure after Michael failed field sobriety tests, also finding a glass bottle in his pocket that Ray allegedly said contained “weed oil” while patting him down. Ray was taken to the Lake County Jail after booking.
ABC Radio has reached out to Michael Ray’s representatives for a statement.
Michael Ray celebrated his second #1 in 2017 with “Think a Little Less,” following his earlier chart-topper, “Kiss You in the Morning.” His latest single, “Get to You,” is currently nearing country’s top 30.
