ABC/Mark LevineLady Antebellum put out their first holiday EP, A Merry Little Christmas, in 2010, and two years later, added six more tracks to make the full album, On This Winter’s Night.
And if the trio has their way, there’s another installment of yuletide tunes still to come from Hillary Scott, Dave Haywood and Charles Kelley.
“We did talk about that, actually earlier this year,” Charles says. “It was funny, we were talking about this as we were making our Heart Break record, that at some point, we need to add to the Christmas record. I’m so proud of what [producer] Paul Worley and we were able to accomplish.”
In the seven years since Lady A’s been making Christmas music, they’ve realized the impact is has on their fans.
“It really is something that hopefully will be a part of people’s lives, you know, for a long, long time.” Charles reflects. “And that’s kind of a heavy thing, and a really special thing, to kind of consider as an artist, that you might be a part of families’ traditions for years to come, long after you’re gone. So we definitely want to add to it. There’s so many [songs] to choose from.”
“We’ve gotta do volume 2, for sure,” Hillary chimes in, as Dave laughs in agreement.
Thursday night, you can catch Lady A singing “Silver Bells” and “This Christmas”on CMA Country Christmas, which airs at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
