Midland comes out on top: “The Washington Post” likes 2017 served “On the Rocks”

ABC/Randy HolmesWhat was the best country album of 2017? According to The Washington Post, it was Midland’s debut, On the Rocks.

Saying “this Texas trio’s flawless neo-honky-tonk album felt so perfect for this inside-out year,” The Post not only ranked On the Rocks as the best country album of the year, but the best album, period, of the past 12 months.

“Very surreal to see #OnTheRocks named the best album of 2017 by the @WashingtonPost,” the trio tweeted.

Lee Ann Womack’s “The Lonesome, the Lonely, and the Gone” and Sam Hunt’s “Body Like a Back Road” both finish the year on the publication’s Best Songs of 2017 list as well.
