ABC/Image Group LA In 2017, one of Kane Brown’s big dreams came true: he scored his first #1 with “What Ifs,” featuring his junior high schoolmate Lauren Alaina.
On New Year’s Eve, he’ll mark another full circle moment, as he performs on the Hollywood portion of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest.
“I grew up watching it with my mom,” Kane tells ABC Radio. “I never thought I’d be on it. That’s what’s crazy. I just always remember watching, you know, different performers and the crowd just seemed like they had so much fun and it just makes you want to be there.”
The Georgia native admits, however, that when he has his way, he’d prefer to spend December 31 at home with his loved ones.
“For me, it’s just, you know, hanging out with my family and having a good time,” Kane explains. “We’re always on the road, so we don’t really get to go home much and you know, that’s what New Year’s is about, spending it with your loved ones and just wishing up on a New Year.”
Kane confesses he’s not much for making resolutions, though.
“I don’t, cause I don’t like to let myself down,” he says. “But usually if I do, it’s usually working out, like everybody else does.”
Tune in to see Kane’s performance on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest, Sunday starting at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. Florida Georgia Line will also be joining Kane on the West Coast, while Sugarland will be live from New York City’s Times Square.
