ABC/Image Group LASugarland announced their reunion shortly after they appeared together at the CMA Awards on November 8. Their new single, “Still the Same,” followed suit, marking their first single in over six years…and so far, it’s a success.
“Still the Same” has debuted at number 26 on Billboard‘s Country Airplay chart, and that’s a career-best for the duo, according to Billboard. Additionally, the song is currently at number 42 on Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart.
“Still the Same” is the first taste of new music from Sugarland, who announced their hiatus in 2011. In the six years since their break, both Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush have pursued separate solo projects.
While Nettles released two solo albums, including That Girl and Playing with Fire, she also dropped a holiday LP, To Celebrate Christmas. In addition, she starred on Broadway in the musical Chicago and played the role of Dolly Parton‘s mother in the NBC film Coat of Many Colors and its sequel.
Bush, meanwhile, released his own solo album, Gravity, and served as producer on Lindsay Ell‘s debut album, The Project. Sugarland is set to ring in 2018 on ABC, live from Times Square on December 31 as part of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2018.
