ABC RadioTrisha Yearwood’s most recent solo album was 2014’s Prizefighter: Hit after Hit, which included six new songs and ten of her trademark tunes. You have to go back even farther — to 2007’s Heaven, Heartache and the Power of Love — to find her last full-length recording of new material.
So when will the two-time CMA Female Vocalist of the Year make another album?
“I don’t know,” her husband Garth Brooks tells ABC Radio. “I keep asking her that every day.”
With the North American leg of Garth’s World Tour now finished, Trisha confirms she’s setting her sights on heading into the studio.
“I just haven’t been able to do it with this tour,” she explains. “But it’s tapping on my shoulder, and I want to do it just as bad as, hopefully people are gonna wanna hear it.”
While Trisha has been on the road with Garth for more than three years, she’s also been hosting Trisha’s Southern Kitchen on Food Network and expanding her culinary empire.
“I gotta tell you, she’s really happy where she’s at,” Garth says. “You can tell she’s happy where she’s at, and right now, she’s kinda focused on the cooking world.”
He goes on to hint, however, that Trisha has something up her sleeve in the coming months.
“I don’t want to speak for her or let anything out of the bag,” the six-time CMA Entertainer of the Year says, “but [2018] is gonna be very different, I’m just gonna tell you right now.”
After 390 shows where Trisha supported him, Garth adds he’ll be happy to pursue whatever his wife wants to do in the New Year.
