ABC/Kelsea McNealTuesday night on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, you’ll be able to see pop star Bebe Rexha team up with superstar country duo Florida Georgia Line for a performance of their hit “Meant to Be.” While she’d never even heard of FGL before their collaboration, Bebe says she’s now embracing the country music world with open arms.
“I have a newfound love for country music,” she tells ABC Radio. “I went to one of Florida Georgia Line’s shows, and it was like, ‘Whoa!’ They are massive!”
But it wasn’t just the performance that impressed her — it was the crowd. “Seeing the fans, they’re really respectful and chill and loving,” Bebe notes.
As for the prospect of country fans now becoming fans of hers thanks to “Meant to Be,” Bebe says, “It’s cool. I don’t mind having country fans…it’ll be awesome!”
Bebe also appreciates the country music world because, she says, it’s nowhere near as cutthroat as the pop music world she’s been working in for years.
“I love the community of…country writers,” she says. “There’s really a sense of celebration and everything is not so, like, ‘I’m gonna be bigger than you!’ or ‘I’m gonna have a bigger hit than you!'”
“It’s just like, this song was really just written out of like a really pure place,” Bebe notes. ” And it was cool. And I really love that.”
“Meant to Be” is #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, and #18 on the Billboard Hot 100.
