Nick WalkerMaren Morris, hitmaking deejay/producer Zedd, and electronic duo Grey are meeting in “The Middle.”
That’s the name of the three artists’ new collaborative single, which is out now, along with a lyric video. In a statement, Zedd says, “We worked really hard on this record to get it just right and it feels great to be able to finally share it with everyone.”
He adds, “It was super fun working with Maren because she is clearly an amazing singer and very talented musician. And, I always love working with Grey because we push ourselves to make the best music possible and the end result is incredible.”
As for Maren, she says, “Zedd was so great to work with and so easy going, it felt like we’d been working together for years. The sound is reflective of my many influences as an artist — a little bit country, little pop, little R&B, relatable, emotional and catchy as hell. There are no limits with this song and I can’t wait to see how the fans react.”
This Sunday during the Grammy Awards, Zedd, Maren and Grey will be featured in what’s described as a “visually spectacular commercial” directed by Dave Meyers. The spot, featuring “The Middle” will celebrate Grammy’s history of unexpected musical moments that blend various genres. Zedd and Maren are both Grammy nominees this year.
“The Middle” is also the theme for Target’s spring style marketing campaign, which kicks off February 4.
Meanwhile, Maren is releasing the track “Rich,” from her debut album Hero, as the follow-up to her #1, “I Could Use a Love Song.”
