Photo by Rachel Murray/Getty Images for TargetSunday will be a busy night for Maren Morris: She’s nominated for a Grammy, she’ll perform a tribute to the victims of the Las Vegas tragedy with Eric Church and Brothers Osborne, and she’ll star in a new commercial for Target.
The spot features “The Middle,” Maren’s new collaboration with deejay/producer Zedd and electronic duo Grey. It’s a moment she believes is very much in keeping with the spirit of music’s most prestigious night of awards.
“Grammys, it’s an iconic awards show,” Maren says. “It’s all-genre, and I feel like meeting in ‘The Middle,’ me and Zedd, Grey, we wouldn’t be likely collaborators since I’m from country. But it actually works so well, and Grammys are what that’s all about.”
It’s a big deal to have so much time in the national spotlight, a fact that’s not lost on the Texas native.
“It’s a huge opportunity to have the airspace of the Grammys. So it’s gonna be very surreal to see,” Maren admits. “I’m gonna be at the Grammys, so for it to like cut, and go to this really large production… I mean it really is once in a lifetime.”
Maren warns you’ve never seen her in a spectacle quite like this.
“I feel like I’ve never gotten to do a video of this magnitude…” she explained as shooting was about to begin. “I mean the set is just incredible. It’s gonna be a long day, but it’s gonna be so fun. And I just can’t wait for everyone to see it. I can’t wait to see it!”
You can see Maren’s Target ad during the 60th Annual Grammys, which start Sunday at 7:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
