ABC/Image Group LAJon Pardi is taking viewers back in time with the cinematic black and white video for his latest single, “She Ain’t In It.” Directed Jim Wright, the clip was filmed on a ranch outside Thousand Oaks, Calif.
The singer says the black and white concept for the three-minute video, which premiered on ET Online, was inspired by an old treatment for his 2016 chart-topper, “Dirt on My Boots.”
“The treatment almost reminded me of the movie Hud, starring Paul Newman,” Jon tells Entertainment Tonight. “I loved that it was entirely in black and white, and a mini-movie. This is definitely the most cinematic video to date and leans toward the emotion behind the song and the nostalgia of long-lost love.”
The song is Jon’s fourth single off his 2016 album, California Sunrise. Written by Clint Daniels and Wynn Varble, “She Ain’t In It” was on hold for George Strait before Jon was able to cut it for himself.
“I really loved this song when I first heard it. I listened to it multiple times and loved that it was reminiscent of an older era of country music, but still delivered a heartbreaking mix of lyrics and melody,” Jon says. “Everyone loves a good ‘moving on’ song. George Strait had it on hold to record it originally, and when it ended up becoming available, I knew I wanted to record it right away.”
