ABC/Image Group LA These days, Jon Pardi is Livin’ Like Hippies, on the tour of the same name with Miranda Lambert.
Even before the two hit the road together, the pair was already discussing the prospect of recording a duet.
“We keep talking about it…” Jon reveals. “I think she’s in. I don’t know… When we first started talking about her singing with me on her song she wrote, she goes, ‘Well, let’s just see how the end of the tour is!’ I said, ‘Okay,’” he laughs. “So we’re working on it, but yeah, it’s looking good.”
Jon’s next date with Miranda is March 1 in Knoxville, Tennessee, and the California native says the CMA Female Vocalist of the Year is proudly carrying the banner for women in country music.
“She’s a sweetheart, and we’re having nothing but fun on tour,” he says. “She is a great artist, and… she’s putting on a great show, and [it] really shows the true songwriter in her and what she stands for, in her music.”
“And it’s really an honor to be on tour with her,” Jon goes on, “because I always give her credit and much respect: she’s my only female headliner I’ve ever been a part of a show with. Really, if you think about it, she’s one of the only girl headliners out there.”
Jon celebrated his latest two charttoppers, “Dirt on My Boots” and “Heartache on the Dance Floor,” with a #1 party Wednesday afternoon at BMI in Nashville.
