ABC/Image Group LACam will join forces with Motown icon Smokey Robinson for an upcoming episode of CMT Crossroads, premiering March 28 at 10 p.m. ET on CMT. The country singer announced the news today, March 6, on social media while posting a selfie with Smokey.
“Pinching myself right now. I’m taping @CMT Crossroads today with the one and only Smokey Robinson!!!!” she captions a photo standing beside the soul singer.
“I grew up listening to Motown,” she continues. “And this guy has been responsible (as a writer, producer and/or singer) for some of the most iconic songs in the history of recorded music (You’ve Really Got A Hold On Me, I Second that Emotion, Tears of a Clown, My Girl… just google him, the list is insane).”
She adds, “His stories are literally the stuff of legends- living round the corner from his pal Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder handing him tracks to write over at the Motown Christmas party…He sees it ALL as a gift, and makes sure to remind me to keep my head on straight.”
“What an absolutely fulfilling moment to meet someone I have admired so long through my speakers, and then have him outshine my (very high) expectations, both as a talent and as a human being,” Cam gushes. “Singing with him tonight will forever be a highlight in my life.”
This marks the first time the country singer and Motown legend have shared the stage together. Their collaboration will see each artist swapping vocals and verses while performing their career-defining hits.
