ABC/Image Group LA What’s better than your first number one hit and a platinum single? For “Yours” hitmaker Russell Dickerson, the answer is an ACM nomination.
“Honestly, this is one of the coolest feelings of my entire career,” he tells People, “I woke up to like 20 text messages saying, ‘Congrats!’ And I was like ‘For what?’”
Once he figured out he was up for New Male Vocalist of the Year, Russell couldn’t contain his excitement. “I woke up my wife [Kailey] screaming, ‘We’re nominated for an ACM!’” he recalls.
The 53rd Academy of Country Music Awards will be handed out Sunday, April 15 in Las Vegas. Russell’s follow-up to his breakthrough hit “Yours” is the new single “Blue Tacoma.”
