ABC/Image Group LAChris Stapleton interprets Elton John’s “I Want Love” on the new Restoration album, and the next time we hear new music from the Traveller hitmaker, it may be on the big screen.
“I’ve got a few songs in some movies,” Chris reveals, “and some different collaborations with some people that are on the horizon.”
Chris is currently climbing the pop chart with Justin Timberlake on his single, “Say Something.” But when it comes to heading back into the studio to work on his own next record, the Kentucky native predicts it will be awhile.
“As far as a project for me, I don’t know what that next thing is,” he admits. “It’ll probably be a minute, because two records in a year is a lot and sometimes you don’t know stuff like that until you do it, like, ‘Yeah, I’m gonna put out two records in a year.’”
In 2017, Chris released two volumes of songs, both recorded in Nashville’s historic RCA Studio A and titled From A Room.
“It’s been great,” he says of the process, “and it was a good plan, and I’m real happy with how everything is turning out. But we’re probably not gonna be recording anything real soon. It may be a minute.”
“We’ll tour off these two records. They’ve got a lot of life in ‘em as far as touring goes. So I’m sure whatever the next right thing is to do will present itself and then I’ll look at it dead in the eye and go, ‘Alright, let’s go.’”
For now, the “next right thing” for Chris seems to be his first #1 on the country chart, as “Broken Halos” is poised to claim the top spot.
